This demonstration course is dedicated to instruction on Tendon transfers in the Hand. This one day course is run on the day following the two day Upper Limb Anatomy Course.

Booking preference is given to those who enrol for both courses, the full three days.

The course is aimed at:
1. Specialist Trainees in Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery
2. Hand Therapists
3. Hand Surgeons
Maximum 21 participants, 7 per table
Format:
The day is based on sessions of prosection conducted by Faculty with a maximum of 8 participants seated around each table. Participants will perform no dissection but will be free to assist, to question, request clarification, discuss.
1. Lecture on principles of tendon transfers/ Median Nerve anatomy, paralysis and Transfers (DS)
2. Dissection session on Tendon Transfers for Median nerve paralysis
The 4 main oppositionplasties
3. Lecture on Ulnar nerve anatomy, paralysis and transfers (DS)
4. Dissection session on Tendon transfers for Ulnar Nerve paralysis
a. Correction of the Intrinsic minus hand
b. Adductorplasty of the thumb
c. Adductorplasty of the little finger
d. Supplementary techniques (Tenodesis, stabilisation etc)
5. Lecture on Radial Nerve anatomy, paralysis and transfers (HG)
6. Demonstration Dissection session on Tendon Transfer for Radial Nerve paralysis (HG)
a. Restoration of thumb extension
b. Restoration of Wrist extension
c. Restoration of long digit extension
7. Miscellaneous and revision eg Swan neck correction
