Induction information for Trustees, Officers and Council Members
The Charity Commission has published a Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP 2005). In future, the Society’s activities will have to be reported in even greater detail in the Year End Accounts Annual Report. In addition to the details that we already report, there are instructions to include the following:
(a) Methods of recruitment and appointment of Trustees
(b) Job descriptions and responsibilities of the Trustees
(c) Policies adopted for the induction and training of Trustees
(d) Organisational Structure of the Society and how decisions are made
(e) Objectives and activities
(f) Achievements and performance
The following information forms the ‘induction pack’ and this is made available to all new Trustees. In addition to the annual presentation by the Accountants to Council on Trustees’ responsibilities, this will form part of the Trustees' training. It deals with most of the additional requirements demanded of the Society by the Charity Commission.
