The Newcastle Surgical Training Centre are running a cadaveric course aimed at Senior Residents (ST5+), Fellows and new Consultants with a keen interest in hand surgery. This course is suitable for both Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgeons. This course is based on residents rotating through specifically designed skill stations. These will be interspersed by a few short didactic lectures.
Course objectives:
- Anatomy of the hand and wrist with specific reference to fracture fixation
- Imaging of the hand and wrist
- Surgical approaches to the fingers and carpus
- Acute fracture management of the hand and wrist - non-displaced and displaced
- Scaphoid fracture - presentation and operative fixation options, Salvage procedures
