Friday 14th November at The RAF Club in Mayfair!
This spectacular venue in central London is hosting a black tie event for BSSH/BAHT Members and their guests, to help raise the funds needed to continue the life changing work of the LION Project.
Over the last 2.5 years we have successfully helped the local multidisciplinary team develop the first ever Hand Unit in Malawi, through our continuous on-the-ground teaching and training.
Our aim is to leave a sustainable service that will ‘Help Heal the Working Hands of Malawi’ way beyond the project’s 5 year duration.
This incredible project comes at a cost of about £90,000 a year and to date we have raised approximately £200,000 through a combination of personal sponsorship efforts and charitable donations. All our volunteers are taking unpaid leave and any funds raised go towards the cost of their flights, communal accommodation, food and transport to and from the hospital - as well as specialised hand surgery and therapy equipment that is not yet routinely available in Lilongwe.
Our fundraisers have worked extremely hard so far, but we still need to raise over £250,000 to ensure this life changing project is a success.
