A National Faculty of Expert Hand Surgeons with specialist practice in Nerve Injuries
This is a 2-day accredited hand fixation workshop in combination with Medartis aimed at plastic and orthopaedic consultants and trainees who deal with hand fractures. (Please note that the course is followed by a 1-day wrist fixation workshop on 20 March).
The faculty consist of national and international hand surgeons, with a high faculty to delegate ratio. The course will consist of a balanced mix of lectures, practical sessions (using saw bones) and discussion groups. Topics covered during the 2 days include:
K-wires in fracture fixation
Surgical approaches to the hand: metacarpal and phalanges
Condylar fractures
Locking plates
Rolando fractures
Aimed at CT1-ST8 level surgeons with a view to expanding knowledge on the basics of peripheral nerve surgical pathology, developing the appropriate clinical examination and explanation of the neurophysiology using a problem based learning approach.
There will be the opportunity to examine patients and practise suturing skills on cadaveric nerves.
