DESCRIPTION:\n\nThe BSSH Scientific Meeting 2026 is our first three-day event dedicated to hand surgery. Held in conjunction with the American Association for Hand Surgery\, there will be a packed schedule of presentations\, workshops\, and networking opportunities. We are also pleased to have many other visitors\, including delegates from the China\, Japan and India. This unique opportunity will deepen our interdisciplinary global collaboration and help us learn from one another.\n\nThe meeting will consist of innovative talks and debates covering topics such as fractures\, training\, humanitarian work\, nerve injuries\, paediatric hand\, sports injuries\, brachial plexus\, Dupytren's and many more.\n\nWe will be joined by many overseas friends including Dr Charles Goldfarb\, Dr Warren Hammert\, Dr Harvey Chim and Dr Sanj Kakar\, from USA\, Dr Daniel Herren from Switzerland\, Dr Wen Dong Xu and Professor Shanlin Chen from China and Dr Takehiko Takagi from Japan and many others.\n\nThe first day will be followed by a drinks reception at Edinburgh Castle with a viewing of the Crown Jewels. This will give the perfect chance to network and to get to know fellow colleagues. The second day concludes with the Society Dinner at the Natural Museum of Scotland.\n\nSo\, please join us for the BSSH Autumn Scientific Meeting 2026 and discover the vibrant city of Edinburgh\, Scotland!\n\nDATE:Wednesday 4th -  Friday 6th November 2026. \n\nVENUE:Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC)\nThe Exchange \nEdinburgh \nEH3 8EE\nScotland\n\n\n\nAbstract Submission Abstract submission has now closed and submitted papers are with the organsing committee for marking. We expect to be able to contact all authors with the outcome the week commencing 17th August.\n\nIn a change to our traditional format\, all accepted abstracts will be podium presentations and must be presented orally in person. We will not be running e-poster sessions at this meeting. Instead\, successful submissions will be assigned either as a free paper or an emerging concept and given a slot within the programme.\n\nFree Papers will be the highest-ranked studies with mature data and strong scientific or clinical impact or focused\, high-quality studies with robust early or confirmatory results.\n\nEmerging Concepts will include innovative ideas\, case reports or small series\, technical developments and new clinical approaches.\n\nPlease note that post scoring\, the scientific committee reserve the right to reallocate submissions to alternative formats or topics\, regardless of the category they were submitted under. Registration Main Scientific Meeting \n\nWednesday 4th November\, Thursday 5th November and Friday 6th November 2026. \n\nRegistration Categories: BSSH and AAHS members receive the same reduced registration fees. Taking place the day before the main scientific meeting\, these interactive sessions combine expert clinical instruction with cutting-edge industry innovation.\n\nEvent Logistics\n\nVenue: The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh – Surgeons Quarter\nAddress: Nicolson Street\, Edinburgh\, Scotland\, UK\, EH8 9DW\n\nAvailable Workshops:\n\n1. BSSH Arthroplasty (Cadaveric Workshop)\n\nThis cadaveric course is aimed at Consultants and Fellows and will focus on advanced arthroplasty techniques of the hand and wrist\, delivered by an international faculty of experts. Topics will include CMC joint prosthetic arthroplasty\, PIP joint surface and silicone replacement\, total wrist arthroplasty\, DRUJ replacement\, and ulnar head replacement. With an excellent participant-to-cadaver and faculty ratio\, the course offers a highly interactive\, hands-on learning experience in joint reconstruction techniques. Participants will also benefit from expert guidance\, gaining practical tips and insights from leaders in the field.
