DESCRIPTION:\n\nBSSH is proud to invite the Scandinavian Society for Surgery of the Hand to the Spring Scientific Meeting 2024. The meeting will be taking place on Thursday 25th April to Friday 26th April at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds.\n\nSpecific areas of focus will be Nerve\, Hand and Wrist\, Absent Hand\, Socioeconomic\, Paediatric surgery and much more.\n\nLeeds originated as an Anglo-Saxon township on the north bank of the Aire. It grew as a local market centre and was incorporated in 1626. By then the town was a cloth-finishing centre for a wide area where domestic weaving\, introduced by 14th-century Flemish weavers\, was pursued. \n\nOn Boxing Day 2012\, the first pioneering hand transplant took place at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT). Ten years on\, a further 7 patients have undergone single or double transplants totalling 14 new hands and establishing the Trust as one of the leading hand transplant services in the world.\n\nThe usual format of the meeting will return and will be as follows:\n\nWednesday 24 April 2024 Pre-event meetinng - BSSH/BFIRST Overseas Day \n\nThursday 25 April - Friday 26 April 2024 BSSH Scientific Meeting\n\nVenue:\nRoyal Armouries Museum\nArmouries Dr\nLeeds\nLS10 1LT\n\nPre-event meeting - BFIRST BSSH Global Surgery Day Wednesday 24 April 2024 (Pre-event meeting)\n\nA great opportunity for hand surgeons\, therapists trainees and other interested allied professionals to get a taste of the collaborative overseas  work being contributed to by BSSH and BFIRST. The meeting is ideal for those with an established interest in overseas work as well as those interested to find out more about our collaborations and how they may wish to get involved.
